Co-chaired by former Secretaries of State Madeleine K. Albright and Colin L. Powell, the IGD 2006 National Summit brought together some of the nation's foremost business leaders to discuss what role the private sector should play in solving one of the greatest challenges facing the world today: global poverty. Business leaders in attendance reviewed the current situation in the developing world and explored possibilities for creating a better future for us all.
Former President George W. Bush gave a major foreign policy speech at the Summit, emphasizing the power of trade to promote global development.
