Who We Are What We Do News & Media Get Involved
"There is a common belief that we need to revise how we do foreign assistance, and new, dynamic partnerships with the private sector need to be an integral part of that. "

What we do

America's economic health and security are inextricably linked with the prosperity and stability of the rest of the world - the expansion of global economic growth is in our country's best interest. IGD champions smarter government policies and business initiatives to advance economic opportunity and reduce poverty.

Policy

One of the best ways to increase growth and opportunity is to improve the impact of U.S. foreign assistance by defining the best roles for government and business, and ensuring the successful implementation of our assistance programs. By helping focus U.S. government policies on addressing specific obstacles to growth, business can help create an environment where private investment can be a larger part of the solution.

Enterprise growth

Business growth is imperative to poverty reduction. In the drive for growth in developing countries, many companies face similar challenges. IGD's programs for enterprise growth aim to help companies overcome these challenges, enabling faster growth and greater poverty reduction.

Presidential leadership

IGD believes that U.S. leadership is essential in the fight against global poverty and that presidential commitment and initiative are critical components of that leadership. IGD seeks to elevate the importance of a U.S. commitment to poverty reduction. IGD's presidential platform outlines policy recommendations and urges the president to champion better policies and increased funding for programs that address global poverty.

Events

IGD events including National Summits convene business leaders and global development experts to discuss bold strategies to reduce poverty. These high-level events foster deeper engagement of IGD partners in effective solutions to global poverty.
